Depressing thought: in a 100 years almost everyone that’s alive now will be dead and the world will be inhabited by 10 billion or so completely new people.

not so depressing thought: maybe these new people will be less bigoted, sexist and racist.

My activity spikes every Wednesday because of this post

always reblog on a wednesday, that’s the rule.

Dammit its Wednesday and I would have been rethinking scrolling past this all day if I didn’t reblog

Whether this is a troll blog or not, this is not okay. And if Pizza could get removed from tumblr for doing far less than this person, who’s entire blog consists of posts of this nature, who reblogs posts about feminism, posts about people confessing things that have happened to them, with his own snide, misogynistic, and hateful commentary, then I’m sure we can get someone as bigoted as oturtharian removed. And by no means am I a social justice blogger, just a normal person who’s angry because this is not okay, this is not what tumblr is about.

WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK

Rape is a joke now?
Female Genital Mutilation, that’s a joke?
Unequal pay is a joke?
Forced prostitution is a joke?
Child porn industry, is that a joke too?

We teach girls to shrink themselves, to make themselves smaller

We say to girls: “You can have ambition, but not too much You should aim to be successful, but not too successful Otherwise, you will threaten the man”

Because I am female, I am expected to aspire to marriage I am expected to make my life choices

Always keeping in mind that marriage is the most important Now, marriage can be a source of joy and love and mutual support

But why do we teach girls to aspire to marriage

And we don’t teach boys the same?

We raise girls to see each other as competitors

Not for jobs or for accomplishments, which I think can be a good thing

But for the attention of men

"A slut is someone, usually a woman, who’s stepped outside of the very narrow lane that good girls are supposed to stay within. Sluts are loud. We’re messy. We don’t behave. In fact, the original definition of ‘slut’ meant ‘untidy woman.’ But since we live in a world that relies on women to be tidy in all ways, to be quiet and obedient and agreeable and available (but never aggressive), those of us who color outside of the lines get called sluts. And that word is meant to keep us in line."

- Jaclyn Friedman. (via mysharona1987)

"Maybe we’ll all “lighten up” a bit when women are permitted to be successful without having to be literally on display for the male gaze while the real, full humans get to talk about serious, important things."
